Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list and will be out for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Friday. The team subsequently announced Cousins' placement on the list.

Cousins, who is unvaccinated and tests daily per NFL/NFL Players Association protocols, had COVID symptoms, self-reported and tested positive, Pelissero reported.

The Vikings (7-8) enter Week 17 as the NFC's No. 8 seed, one spot out of the playoffs. Cousins' absence certainly doesn't bode well for the team's fleeting playoff hopes as rookie Kellen Mond is currently slated to get the start.
