Despite the attachment to the daily number of deaths reported by Covid's fans, the account of the civil registry offices, in charge of officializing births and deaths throughout the country, is different.

The headlines count the day on which the death is registered, but the registry offices register the actual date of death.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the most lethal day in Brazil was March 22 this year, when 3,057 people lost their lives infected by Covid.

Data from the Association of Natural Person Registrars reveal that the current 7-day moving average has returned to February's level; 1,300.

Since the peak on the 22nd, both the total daily deaths and the average have been decreasing. The average reached almost 3 thousand deaths/day at the end of March.

Notary offices across the country have a few weeks to update the data, so the trend is still upwards in revising the numbers.
