Gabby Petito family: Boyfriend Brian Laundrie ‘hiding’ from authorities, not ‘missing’
Boyfriend Brian Laundrie has refused to speak to cops or Gabby Petito’s family about the missing woman’s whereabouts in the weeks since he returned.

NORTH PORT, Florida – The family of Gabby Petito, the Long Island woman who disappeared while on a cross-country trek with her boyfriend, believe he has fled, after reports surfaced that he is missing.
Petito hasn’t been heard from since Aug. 30, while the boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, returned alone in her van to the Florida home they shared — without a word as to Gabby’s fate.
“All of Gabby’s family want the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing,” the statement, issued late Friday, read from the office of attorney Richard B. Stafford.
Laundrie had remained tight-lipped about Petito’s whereabouts, even as her family demanded answers and protestors gathered outside his home.
“His family has reported that they have not seen Brian as of Tuesday,” Josh Taylor, public information officer for the North Port Police, said Friday.
