BRAZIL: Preventing Violence Against Black Women Using Early Childhood Education
The Maria da Penha Law on Domestic and Family Violence, which calls for the establishment of special courts and stricter sentences for criminals in Brazil, is an extraordinary achievement for young, poor, and black women, but it is not enough. According to Lucas de Almeida, the head of police from Santa Catarina - Brazil, new policies about childhood education can prevent violence against women in Brazil. In addition to that, rethinking stereotypes of women related to sexuality in the judiciary power can stop this violence.
