Have you watched the famous television program with Oprah? Oprah Gail Winfrey is an epitome of how a life can change for better. Oprah has overcome obstacles after one unimaginable event in her life. In the 1960s, she lived in Milwaukee with her mother where she was illiterate and poor. After she moved to Tennessee in her father’s house, her life changed in a positive way. There had been many gradually transitions in her life, but the most significant one was becoming one of the richest women in the United States and a Ph.D., as well.

The first incredible transition in her life, probably the most important, was the change from illiteracy to the highest educational position. During her childhood, her grandmother’s teaching influenced positively her personality because she learned how to read and write. She further learned how to give great speeches in her grandmother’s church. Later she turned into a great child preacher. After that, she lived with her mother, the woman that had neither education nor emotional support. In a few years, she needed to move to another city, Tennessee, to continue her studies. Oprah never gave up, and became a famous writer, a presenter of the highest-rated talk shows in America TV channels. Her educational background has given her substantial honor; for instance, she has received an honorary doctorate from Harvard University.

Her second change was from poverty to wealth. When she was a little girl, her family did not have money to buy their basic needs such as clothes. Oprah had a childhood with resource shortages, so she used potato sacks as her dresses which her family bought with their limited financial resources. At age 14, Oprah was pregnant. However, her baby died due to a lack of good nutrition. Her tough life then changed when she received necessary supports from a barber named Vernon Winfrey. The man that she entitled him ‘father’ was the key for her success. Oprah has achieved her educational goals that made her strong enough to help others. She became very prosperous; she shares her money with many needy people. Nowadays, she is a donor of millionaires’ funds for the charity.

At last, her poor state turned into a powerful state, from rags to riches. Her pauper infancy and full of suffering had resulted in a series of sexual abuse. The incredible vulnerable girl had shifted from weakness to strength since she met her ‘father’. He helped her enhance her resilience and became stronger and stronger. Now, she can help the global community through her TV shows and donations.

In conclusion, Oprah is a strong woman that survived the difficulties. She once said: “One if the hardest things in life to learn are which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn.” In fact, there are many bridges in Oprah’s life, but her journey from poor, unlettered, and victim turns into an honored doctor, millionaires, and force icon. All of these points made her a symbol woman around the world and made Oprah an inspiration for Americans.
