Dec 16: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the first two O3b mPOWER broadband internet satellites into Medium Earth Orbit for SES of Luxembourg from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

Dec. 16: The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, jointly developed by NASA and the French space agency CNES, will launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch is scheduled for 6:46 a.m. EST (1146 GMT).

Dec. 17: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch another batch of Starlink satellites from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The launch is scheduled for approximately 4:32 p.m. EST (2132 GMT).

Dec. 18/19: Rocket Lab will launch first Electron booster from U.S. soil. The launch from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia will deliver six HawkEye 360 satellites that monitor global radio frequencies into space. The launch window is 6:00-8:00 p.m. EST on Dec. 16 (2300-0100 GMT on Dec 17).

Dec 20/21: The Pléiades Neo 5 and 6 Earth observation satellites will launch aboard an Arianespace Vega-C rocket for Airbus from Kourou, French Guiana. The launch is scheduled for 9:47 p.m. EST (0147 GMT on Dec. 21).

Dec. 21: Solstice. Today marks the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dec. 21-22: The annual Ursid meteor shower peaks overnight.

Dec. 23: The new moon arrives at 5:16 a.m. EDT (0916 GMT).

Dec. 28: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch another batch of Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Dec. 28/29: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the EROS C3 high-resolution Earth-imaging satellite for ImageSat International from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. The launch is scheduled for 1:58 a.m. EST (0658 GMT on Dec. 29).
