Well-known as the face of Fenty Beauty, South Sudanese model Duckie Thot is a seasoned fashion model with experience on the Victoria’s Secret and Valentino runways. In 2022, she added SI Swimsuit to her resume, making her debut in Montenegro.
When it came to the model’s mentality, she was clearly ready for her rookie experience with the issue. “I think it’s just [about] finding a groove with all the looks and just having fun with it,” she explained on set of the photoshoot. And she was definitely having fun, posing around the island in a variety of idyllic locations, from the prow of a boat to the beach.
Though Thot already had an extensive modeling resume prior to her SI Swim debut, she still had her eyes on the brand. “Sports Illustrated has always been on my list,” she said. “So, I’m so glad I get to kick it off and to be able to [do it].”
The photos from the 27-year-old’s photoshoot were absolutely worth the model’s wait for the feature—and she had a blast while doing it. “Today was amazing, I had such a great day. I just can’t believe it—I can’t believe we’re done after my first SI rookie shoot.”
“That’s a wrap. I’m officially an SI rookie,” she added. Thot definitely made a splash in her rookie feature, earning a spot the following year in the 2023 issue. Below are nine of the fabulous photos from her first year in Montenegro.
