Can I apply to renew my passport?

We are currently able to accept adult passport renewal applications from individuals that are eligible to submit their applications by mail. Please click here for details of eligibility, application requirements and where to send your application.

Please note, U.S. passports can be renewed at any time before or after they expire, and a U.S. passport is valid for travel to the United States until the day it expires.

Can I apply to renew my child’s passport, apply for my child’s first adult passport, or apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and first ever U.S. passport for my child?

If your child has urgent travel plans (within the next three weeks), please see the information below about how to request an urgent appointment.

If your child does not have imminent travel, please continue to check this webpage regularly as we will update it as soon as we are able to resume routine in-person appointments to apply for child passport renewals, first adult passports, and CRBAs and first passports. It is not possible to apply for these services by mail.

I am an adult. Can I apply for my first ever U.S. passport?

My passport has expired and I need to travel imminently. What should I do?

If you need a new U.S. passport in less than three weeks, please do not submit your application by mail. Please follow these instructions to request an appointment to apply in person, as you may require an emergency passport.

If you have an emergency that requires travel for which you require a U.S. passport we may be able to assist with issuing a limited-validity emergency passport. Emergencies include serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family (parent, legal guardian, child, spouse, sibling, and grandparent) that require you to travel within 72 hours (three business days).
